A chat with Giacomo Greco – CEO & Producer of Jyamma Games
Introducing Jacky Greco, CEO & Producer of Jyamma Games. Let’s hear what Jacky has to say about teamwork and the future of video games!
I created Jyamma Games Studio for video gamers to have fun. I’m having fun so I want them to have fun as well.
I’m Giacomo Greco and I am the CEO and producer of Jyamma Games. We’re a small independent software house based in Milan We develop free-to-play games and it’s 9 of us. We’re 3 artists, 2 programmers, 3 designers and a team in charge of marketing.
As far as this kind of job is concerned, teamwork is crucial.
It matters a lot when the producer can motivate its people
and can accomodate their needs.
You need to know how to manage time as well as how to give space, trying to match everything and create a complete product.
We get inspired form each other’s ideas, even if it’s an artist or a programmer.
The ideas do not come from designers only. It happened to me a few times that
I had ideas coming not only from designers, but also design solutions coming from programmers. So you always need to stay open to any kind of solution from any kind of person.
The world of video gaming has changed a lot during the past 20 years. We’ve gone from playing arcade games, which slowly faded away with the coming of home consoles, to the latest phenomenon from the past 10 years
of mobile games which represent more than 50 or 60% of nowadays video games market.
When I’m off work, I spend most of my time playing games. Playing games is the starting point to understand mechanics that you can later apply onto other games.
